Staging Your Home

When selling your home it’s important to look at from a different perspective…the  Buyer’s perspective. A great first impression is just as important in homes as it is with  people, and since Buyer’s typically have their minds made up in the first thirty seconds,  let’s set you and your home up for success. 

This is where staging comes in. Our staging guru, Mary-Helen, has performed some  amazing transformations whether it’s filling an empty space or adding a few extra  pieces to give a home a ‘fresh’ look.  

With Mary-Helen’s help we would come by and take a tour of your home with you to  give our suggestions of things you can do prior to staging that would make a big  difference. When we are going through we are thinking three things; declutter, touch it  up and make it shine.  


Below are some helpful tips to get things started:

Exterior

Declutter 

- Mow the lawn and trim trees & scrubs away from the house 

- Rake leaves, pull weeds & dispose of dead plants, flowers & shrubs

- Store tools & other equipment neatly in the garage 

 

TOUCH IT UP

- Repair doors & windows 

- Repair roof shingles, shutters, gutters windows, siding & fencing

- ‘Freshen Up’ the front/back yards with new sod, plants, flowers & mulch if needed 

 

Make it shine

- Wash windows, inside & out 
- Sweep all sidewalks & driveways

INTERIOR

THE KITCHEN

Declutter 

- Clear extra appliances from all kitchen countertops 
- Remove all messages, pictures & magnets from the refrigerator
- Clear away any papers, mail or newspaper that may have accumulated
- Clear the sink, stove & countertops of all dishes, pots & pans

 

Touch it up 

- Repair any faucet/sink leaks
- Repair any broken appliances and any non-working cabinets & drawers
- Patch & paint walls and ceilings, if necessary

 

Make it shine 

- Wipe down cabinets & polish sinks 
- Clean all appliances inside & out 
- Wash kitchen floors
- Air out garbage area with a deodorizer and/or freshener with a subtle scent

INTERIOR

THE BATHROOMS


Declutter 

- Remove any unnecessary items from countertops 
- Put toothbrushes & toothpaste away 
- Organize linen closets, medicine cabinets, etc.

 

Touch it up

- Repair any faucet, sink and/or toilet leaks 

- Caulk & grout tile, if necessary 

- Patch and paint walls & ceiling, if necessary

 

Make it shine

- Clean sinks, toilets, bathtubs & showers 

- Polish mirrors and bathroom fixtures 

- Wash bathroom floor

THE BEDROOMS

Declutter 

- Clear the tops of dressers and side tables of all personal items

- Organize closet and dressing areas 

- Ensure all clothing ready to be laundered is out of sight

 

Touch it up 

- Repair any screens, windows or door handles, if necessary

- Patch and paint baseboards & windowsills, if necessary 

- Patch and paint walls & ceiling, if necessary

 

Make it shine 

- Clean window sills, baseboards and windows 

- Dust & polish all furniture 

- Clean and polish hardwood floors or steam clean broadloom, if necessary
